HOUSING INFORMATION
All LPI students will live with a homestay. One to two students are normally placed with each homestay. There may be occasions that will require LPI to place three students in one homestay, although this is not common. LPI cannot guarantee that students will have a roommate. Students who wish to guarantee a single room must pay an additional fee. Please be aware that some students who did not pay the extra fee may also be placed in single rooms. In addition, this extra fee guarantees the student their own bedroom, but does not guarantee that they will be the only LPI or foreign student in the home.
All of the homestays in Spain, Mexico, and Costa Rica are personally interviewed by the full-time on-site staff. Homestays in France are directly monitored by the university in Angers. The host families provide three meals a day, seven days a week (except for LPI excursion days) for the official period of the program. Students’ laundry will be done once a week.
Please note that homestays can take various forms and are not always considered to be "traditional families." Single parent households, widows, adults without children as well as other variations may be used as homestays. Furthermore, in order to assure that students are housed with quality families in safe areas, students may be required to walk up to 40 minutes to the university or take public transportation.
Living with a homestay provides the opportunity for students to experience aspects of the local lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor, not to mention a great opportunity to practice the language.
