In an effort to screen potential students, please take a few minutes to read about the LPI program and respond to the following questions.
Learning Programs International (LPI) is a study abroad program for high school students. Generally, students study and live abroad during the summer months for two to five weeks. The purpose of the LPI program is foreign language acquisition and cultural learning within a safe environment. Students live with a homestay, take college-level language courses (often with university students), and participate in cultural excursions. LPI also offers volunteer opportunities through the LPI Global Impact programs.
Students who participate in LPI programs are required to have achieved a certain level of academic success. Students are also expected to be emotionally mature enough to deal with the daily pressures of a foreign environment, and as such they must abide by the LPI Code of Conduct without constant supervision. Before completing the recommendation form, please review the LPI Code of Conduct.
Students accepted to one of the LPI Global Impact programs will face situations that will be challenging - both physically and emotionally. These programs will put students face to face with the realities of their host city while helping them grow personally through volunteer service projects. It is vital that participants recognize that the service projects are designed to serve the interests of others, not the interests of the students. Please review the information regarding LPI Global Impact before recommending an applicant.
If you have any further questions regarding what is required of LPI students, please contact LPI directly via email at lpi@lpiabroad.com or at 800.259.4439.
