About LPI
LPI was established in 1989 to provide an academically challenging and culturally thorough study abroad program for U.S. high school students. Based in Austin, Texas, LPI reaches out to provide study abroad opportunities to students from across the United States. LPI works closely with fully-accredited foreign universities and the LPI resident staff in each program location in order to provide cultural activities, tutoring services, language exchanges, volunteer opportunities, and numerous possibilities for improving language performance. Through LPI, students have options to equip themselves with working knowledge of a foreign language or (on some programs) take courses in English. Students earn college credit, experience another culture and explore the area around their program city through cultural excursions.
The LPI staff believes in a service-oriented attitude towards study abroad. LPI helps each student throughout the entire study abroad process, from choosing the appropriate program, to completing the application process, to participating successfully in the study abroad experience. From a student's initial contact with an LPI representative, we hope that he or she will quickly realize how important each individual student is to us.
LPI is committed to helping students have an unforgettable experience abroad academically, culturally and personally. We hope that they will gain a cultural understanding and personal independence that can only be achieved by living and studying in another country. Moreover, we hope that students will continue to reap the benefits of study abroad by encouraging cultural understanding in their own communities. LPI recognizes that this enlightening experience is becoming more and more of an asset for students as they become valuable members of today's expanding global community.
