LPI's choices for programs in Spain include exciting educational packages in the following locations:

GRANADA

Granada (pop. 250,000) lies at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range approximately an hour north of the Mediterranean Sea. Its eloquent architecture and rich history make it a popular destination for study abroad students. Historically, Granada is counted among the most important cities in Spain. In fact, the Catholic Kings, Ferdinand and Isabella, who championed the reconquista in Spain (and funded Columbus’ voyage to the New World), are buried here, in the Capilla Real. Students who chose programs in Granada study at the University of Granada where they complete coursework focusing on Spanish language immersion.


MÁLAGA

Málaga (pop. 600,000) sits at the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and is known for its beautiful beaches, rich history, and delicious seafood. The area was first settled by the Phoenicians, who were known throughout the Mediterranean as a culture of experienced and profitable seamen. Established by a culture famous for its trade routes traversing the region, it is not surprising that today Málaga remains a center for international trade. Students opting to study in Málaga have the opportunity to study at the University of Málaga, where they complete Spanish language immersion coursework.


SALAMANCA

Salamanca (pop. 160,000) was first established as a fortified Roman camp, and today, many remnants of the Roman Empire can be seen throughout the city. Salamanca beckons students to discover its historical significance as one of Europe’s chief centers of Renaissance thought. Its accreditations include being both an UNESCO World Heritage Site and a European City of Culture. Among the most important sites in the city is the University of Salamanca—the oldest and most prestigious university in Spain. Students studying in Salamanca take classes at the University of Salamanca, where they attend both Spanish langauge immersion courses and electives.


SANTANDER

Santander (pop. 184,000) is located in the heart of Spanish Basque country, and allows students the opportunity to study along one of the most beautiful coastlines in Spain. Santander offers visitors incredible opportunities to explore the natural beauty surrounding the city—both along the coast and in the mountains that surround the region. The city itself is ripe with cultural significance, including sites like the Palace of La Magdalena. Students opting to study in Santander study at the University of Menendez Pelayo Santander, and complete Spanish language immersion coursework.


SEVILLA

Sevilla (pop 700,000) serves is both the metropolitan and cultural hub of southern Spain. It is the largest city in the region, and has served as the site of multiple international cultural expositions. The city itself sits along the banks of the Guadalquivir River, and is surrounded by a lush and verdant countryside in the heart of Andalucía. Students studying in Sevilla take courses at the University of Menendez Pelayo where they complete classes focusing on Spanish language immersion and acquisition.
