About The City

San José, the capital of Costa Rica, is located in the central valley of the Costa Rican highlands. Lush tropical mountains, fiery volcanoes, exotic wildlife, and virgin beaches make Costa Rica an ideal destination for the adventurous traveler. Long considered Latin America’s most stable country, Costa Rica has been without a standing army since 1948. Students who visit Costa Rica will find themselves meeting friends at local cafes, playing soccer, or taking dance classes at the university. Costa Rica offers endless opportunities to experience the natural beauty in which the Ticos (native Costa Ricans) live.
